We have installed and maintained Big Ass Fans across Western Australia since 2013, and the school programme is the clearest picture of what that means at scale: a rolling preventative-maintenance round across more than forty sites, each one individually ordered and separately scheduled. Department of Education primary and secondary schools, alongside independent and Catholic colleges, with distribution centres, workshops and aquatic centres in the same round.
A high-volume low-speed fan over seven metres across, mounted in a school undercroft, is not something you install once and walk away from. Across these rounds we have replaced variable-speed drives, motor packs, airfoils and winglets, and nearly all of it has to land in the holidays or outside class time. On a programme like that the scheduling is as much of the job as the electrical work.
